There is a new Etsy shop you need to know about. A husband and wife duo run Rapture Design where they make beautiful kokeshi dolls turned on their lathe. 

I had to have some.

Here is my little family set. Rapture Design is currently taking custom orders for how many, sizing, what size head shape you’d like, as well as figure shape. 

Eventually I’m thinking I will paint them, though I would do a very transparent paint so the wood grain would still come through. And while you can buy smaller figures to paint yourself, or buy already painted or have them custom painted, the real glory of these are their sizing. Large dolls are in the 8-9 inches range while smaller dolls are 4-5 inches. I took a pic so you could see the sizing in reference.
